Please read this page as it contains important information to understand tire warmers.
Developing a New Heat Source for Tire Warmers
When creating a new product, we faced the challenge of developing an innovative heat source rather than relying on the conventional wire heater method. The biggest hurdle was ensuring even heating across the entire tire rather than localized heating. While I won’t delve into the specifics of our research and development process, we ultimately succeeded in designing a fabric that generates heat uniformly.
Limitations of Conventional Heating Wires
Heating wires are the most common heat source for tire warmers, effectively heating the tire. However, because the wires only directly contact certain areas, heat is conducted from these points to warm the entire tire. For instance, if a tire warmer is set to maintain a thermostat-controlled temperature of 90°C (194°F), the heating wires continue to heat up until the tire reaches this temperature. As a result, the wire itself may rise to approximately 120°C (248°F). Physically, this is necessary to achieve the desired tire temperature. Regardless of how densely the wires are arranged, some areas will inevitably experience direct heating while others remain less heated.
The primary function of a tire warmer is to replicate optimal running conditions for the tires before use.
What Is the Correct Tire Temperature?
Tire temperatures and pressures must reflect actual running conditions. Therefore, values like 80°C (176°F) or 90°C (194°F) are not inherently correct in all cases.
- ・Is the tire temperature 90°C (194°F) while driving?
- ・Does it reach 100°C (212°F)?
If so, there could be an issue. While it is generally recommended to warm tires to 80°C (176°F) or 90°C (194°F) with a tire warmer, using a heated wire warmer—where localized heating is involved—can cause the wire temperature to exceed 100°C (212°F) or even reach 120°C (248°F) before the tire itself warms up.
Keep in mind that excessive heat can degrade the softening agents in the tire, which may impact performance.
The Advantages of GET HOT Tire Warmers
GET HOT technology makes it possible to heat tires efficiently while maintaining the heating element temperature below 100°C (212°F). This is achieved through a vast heating area, ensuring even and controlled warmth.
To explain its characteristics in a simplified way, imagine comparing a typical heating wire system with GET HOT:
- A conventional heating wire warmer relies on 10 intense wires.
- GET HOT, by contrast, distributes heat through 80,000 fine lines at an appropriate temperature.
This means that while each individual heating line may not produce extreme heat, it ensures even distribution without damaging the tire. With 80,000 heating points densely packed together, you can visualize the comprehensive and uniform heating achieved.
Proven Performance in Motorsport
GET HOT tire warmers have been tested and used by leading factory teams, including:
- YOSHIMURA JAPAN
- KAWASAKI Factory Team
